Be the reason she shows up in class.
In Kenya’s refugee camps, thousands of girls face a silent crisis every month.
Not because of war.
Not because of hunger.
But because of their monthly cycle.
“I feel uncomfortable getting up in class.”
These are words that represent the quiet fear carried by many girls, as they are on their monthly cycle without access to sanitary towels.
In Kalobeyei, one of the largest Refugee Settlement Schemes in Africa, the monthly cycle has become a monthly crisis. Without access to sanitary towels and hygiene kits, thousands of girls are forced to stay home from school, missing classes, losing confidence, and falling behind.
And it’s not just girls. Boys, too, are growing up without the hygiene essentials they need to thrive with dignity. This should not be normal, not for any child.
That is why on 28th May, on Menstrual Hygiene Day, we launched Flow With Dignity, a bold campaign to mobilize 20,000 sanitary towels and hygiene kits for 5,000 refugee children.
Why it matters
Whyitmatters
Periods are natural, missing school is not. No child should have to choose between managing their monthly cycle and accessing an education. Yet for thousands of refugee girls, that’s the reality. Periods shouldn’t pause dreams, and education should never be a privilege reserved for the few. It’s time to break the barriers and restore dignity, one hygiene kit at a time.
Your support today can be the reason a girl lifts her hand in class without fear, and a boy walks with confidence.
Individually, our support might be little, but collectively, we will restore dignity to thousands of children.
Each KES 1,000 donated provides a complete hygiene kit, with dignity essentials like 4 sanitary towels, underwear, soap, and a note of encouragement from someone who cares (that’s you!).
Because when a girl is equipped, she can show up, learn, and thrive.
