Meet Our Team

Country Director  
John Bongei is FCA Kenya’s country director. He holds a Master’s degree in International Studies and has more than 22 years of experience in humanitarian and development programs including research (with the World Bank), disaster risk reduction, resource mobilization, reporting, quality and accountability and capacity building in Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, Uganda, South Sudan, Mozambique and South Africa. He also has five years of peace-building experience in the target counties. John has experience in managing USAID-funded projects. He is also a conflict sensitivity-certified trainer.  

Finance, Administration and Donor Compliance Manager  
Hilda Mawanda holds an MBA (Strategic Management) and B.Sc. in Information Science. She is a qualified accountant, and a member of ICPAK (Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya) and AWAK (Association of Women Accountants of Kenya). She has over 20 years’ extensive and consistent experience in non-profits. She has experience with managing projects funded by the UNHCR, EU, ECHO, DFID, SIDA and various Private foundations. She has served in Boards of local NGOs that deal with youth (Young Women Leadership Institute), child rights (The Cradle) and women (Women Empowerment Link, Senior Women Citizens for Change and Centre for Gender Equality and Advocacy Samburu County). 

Senior Finance Officer  
Donnah Kathure holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Finance), CPA, (2nd Level) and is currently pursuing an MBA in Strategic Management.   She has 9 years of work experience in administration, finance, accounting, budgeting, financial management on the implementation of the activities, financial reporting and annual auditing exercises for both organization and donors. She has experience working with different donors i.e. UNHCR, UNICEF and USAID. 

Human Resource & Administration Coordinator 
Rachael Thuita holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management – Human Resource Management and is currently pursuing an MSc. Human Resource Development. She has 10 years of work experience in administration and human resource management in the NGO sector. With a wide of experience in a wide range of HR functions, including policy review, recruitment and selections, performance management, staff welfare and benefits administration.   

Program Manager   
Alexon Mwasi is the Program Manager at FCA Kenya Country Program and holds a Master’s degree in Global Community Development from Southern Adventist University, Tennessee USA. He has experience spanning for over 15 years in the management of projects and programs in Humanitarian development, relief and response operations.    

Program Support Officer   
Hellen Muriithi has vast experience in program support, administrative procedures, reporting and correspondence. She holds a Bachelors’ degree in Public Administration and is also a Certified Public Secretary of Kenya (CPS-K).  

Education Project Coordinator  
Richard Tsalwa is the Education project coordinator and holds a Master’s degree in Sociology (Rural Sociology and Community Development). He provides day-to-day management of the project. Richard has extensive experience in project management, planning, implementation, tracking of programs progress and reporting. He works closely with the Education Specialist and the Education Officer to oversee the implementation of activities of the proposed initiative in the target ECD centers and primary schools.  

Education Project Officer  
Catherine Agwenyi is the Education Officer and holds Bachelor’s degree in education in Education (ECE), Diploma in Counselling Psychology and certificate in project monitoring. She has over 5 years of experience working for child-centered programs targeting learners including children with disabilities and other special needs, refugees, teachers and stakeholders. She has also teaching experience where she has gained invaluable experience working closely with caregivers in handling vulnerable children using effective and practical methods. 

Project Finance Officer  
Mark Kuya holds a Bachelor of Business Management accounting option and CPA, (2nd Level) and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Business administration – Finance. He is instrumental in proposal writing and budget-making process, financial management on the implementation of the activities, financial reporting and annual auditing exercises for both organization and donors. He has experience working with different donors ie follows UNHCR, WFP, FAO, BMZ, DCA, GIZ, ECHO and EC. 

Education Specialist   
Ahmed Shale possesses a Master’s degree in education with over 10 years of work experience in Kenya and Uganda. He has experience in implementing education projects within development cooperation and humanitarian assistance in the INGO sector. He also has an extensive understanding of education work in fragile and emergency contexts.  

Peace Coordinator   
Aziza Maalim is FCA Kenya’s right to peace coordinator, she holds a master’s degree in peace studies and international relations from Hekima Institute of Peace Studies & International Relations. Aziza has 10 years of extensive experience in peacebuilding including alternative dispute resolution, countering violent extremism and a specific focus on women, advocacy, peace and security. 

Livelihood Officer  
Susan Awandu has solid experience working with INGOs and the private sector, she is a highly experienced youth and women development specialist. Susan is currently working with women, youth and vulnerable groups on sustainable livelihoods.  

Construction Officer  
Dennis Onserio holds an MSc. in Procurement and Logistics and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Building. He has over 7 years of experience in both civil and structural engineering in NGOs and private sector companies. He is a registered member of the Engineers Board of Kenya. 

ICT Assistant 
Marcus Muli holds a Diploma in Telecommunications Engineering. He has over eight years experience in ICT, database systems and software development, programming in C, C++, Python, Rust, Kotlin and scripting languages i.e, PHP, Unix/Linux shell scripts, JavaScript’s, XML, CSS & HTML, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL, and NoSQL, in particular MongoDB database. 

Communications Assistant
Elizabeth Oriedi is the FCA Kenya Communications Assistant and holds a Bachelor’s degree in social communication from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa with an ongoing Master’s degree in Mass Communication from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology.  She enhances the projects’ visibility, captures and documents human interest stories in the reports and manages FCA Kenya’s print and digital media platforms.
